The primary focus of the ranch is to produce superior quality Katahdin sheep and Savanna goats. We produce registered breeding stock for Katahdin sheep. We also have commercial breeding stock of 50-87.5% Savanna does and bucks. We are currently building our herd of registered full blood Savanna goats. Our animals are raised primarily on native forage with minimal (<10%) use of grain with no hormones.
Katahdin sheep are hardy, adaptable, low maintenance sheep that produce superior lamb crops and lean, meaty carcasses. They do not produce a fleece and therefore do not require shearing. They are medium sized and efficient, bred for utility and for production in a variety of management systems. Ewes have exceptional mothering ability and lamb easily; lambs are born vigorous and alert. The breed is ideal for pasture lambing and grass/forage-based management systems. We breed for parasite resistance and exceptional mothering. We are a member of Katahdin Hair Sheep International (KHSI) as well as the National Sheep Improvement Program (NSIP).
Savanna goats were developed in South Africa for superior hardiness. They are a relatively rare breed in the United States. Our fullblood goats have been DNA verified and can be traced back to the Cilliers and other South African bloodlines. The breed has a medium to large carcas and is known for its exceptional mothering abilities and hardiness. We are a member of the World Wide Sheep and Goat Archives (WWSGA). We are also members of the North American Savannah Association (NASA).
